The New Hollywoods got their start in 1978 in Surrey, ND. The group consisted of John Kircher, Jim Burckhard, and Paul Heskin, with Scott Lysne joining a couple of years later.
Originally called The Silver Marshall Band, the group decided on a name change. Seems some of the chicken wire clubs the band was playing in the early days would expect a country western act, only to be surprised by a loud rock and roll cover band. The New Hollywoods worked the club scene in Minot, Bismarck, Williston, Dickinson, Beulah, Hazen, Glendive and Sidney Mt. and filled in with High School and College dates all throughout North Dakota and eastern Montana. The band was a regular choice as an opening act for groups like The Beach Boys and The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. In 1988, after 10 years and thousands of road miles, the Hollywoods called it quits. In recent years, The New Hollywoods have reunited on a number of occasions, and although those high notes are a little harder to hit, the guys still have fun entertaining the crowd and making music together. April 17th, 2010 will be a very special night. The New Hollywoods look forward to seeing old friends, and helping a worthy cause!
