About Minot Bands Together 2010

This years event is actually the third time around. The first year was in 2007, but was called the Minot Rock Reunion (for the National Kidney Foundation) and that event raised around $12,000. We did it again in 2008 with the first Minot Bands Together and raised almost $28,000. We had planned a 2009 event, but could not get enough bands to commit. Finally, we have enough bands to do it again.

Back in the 1980's and 1990's, Minot's band scene was thriving. There were many bands and clubs who hired these bands. The 1980's saw many rock bands playing around the Minot area, and the 1990's saw many country bands playing. These bands gained a large following of fans and those fans still remember those bands and all the fun times.

The Minot Rock Reunion was unique because it was the first time that some of the bands had played together for almost 20 years (Zentry, Lost Weekend and New Hollywoods). MBT 2008 also reunited 4 bands from the early 1990's (Wilder Days, High Fever, Black Velvet and Whooz Playin).

MBT 2008 and MBT 2010 are dedicated to the American Cancer Society. There is hardly anyone anymore that doesn't know someone affected by cancer, or who has had cancer. The coordinators of this event have all been affected and that is what motivates us to raise as much money as possible.

This years event will find 3 of the bands making a reappearance and one band finally appearing after having to cancel the initial year. We have Zentry, New Hollywoods, Nixon Pupils and Whooz Playin'.

The money raised stays in our local area, helping cancer patients get through the hard times during Chemo treatments with the Look Good, Feel Good program and other local programs.

The is definitely the event of the year and we look forward to another successful fund raiser. Thank you to all the bands and participants, as well as everyone who will step up and help the ACS out.
